A vintage poster for ''Beat the Devil'', a 1953 British-American adventure-comedy film directed by John Huston and based on a screenplay written by Huston and Truman Capote. The film is known for its satirical and humorous take on the adventure genre, and it features a notable ensemble cast.
The story of "Beat the Devil" revolves around a group of international travelers who find themselves in Italy while waiting for a ship to Africa. The group, consisting of various eccentric characters, becomes embroiled in a complex and often comical web of intrigue, espionage, and double-crossing.
The central character is Billy Dannreuther, portrayed by Humphrey Bogart, a somewhat disreputable American who, along with his wife Maria (played by Gina Lollobrigida), is part of the group. The other characters include a British couple, a mysterious Englishman, and a wealthy Frenchman, among others.
